Defending Ohio Division II state champion and Cincinnati’s No. 1-ranked small school program Roger Bacon traveled across the Ohio River on Wednesday night to take on St. Henry, the top-ranked team in Northern Kentucky.

The Spartans (6-0), also ranked No. 1 in the first weekly Ohio AP state poll, stayed unbeaten on the season with a tough 25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 25-20 win over the Crusaders (11-4).

Roger Bacon has now defeated the top teams in Cincinnati Division I and Northern Kentucky.  Last week the Spartans defeated Mount Notre Dame, which is also ranked No. 1 in Ohio.  Other key wins over top 10 teams include No. 5 Mercy (DI) and No. 7 Purcell Marian (DII).
