Spring Forward

Baseball season opens up

Despite less than spring-like temperature and conditions several Northern Kentucky teams took to the baseball diamond yesterday signaling the start of the spring season.

Beechwood defeated Campbell County 9-2 in a contest between two of the top 10-ranked schools according to the coaches' preseason poll.

The No. 3-ranked Tigers broke open a scoreless game by scoring three runs in the top of the fifth inning against the No. 8 Camels, then put the game away with a 5-run sixth inning outburst.

In other action:

Bellevue - 10, Villa - 0

Ludlow - 3, Newport - 0

St. Henry - 7, Scott - 6

Lloyd - 4, Conner - 2
