Mercy junior Stephanie Vorherr recently made an oral commitment to continue her education and play volleyball at Xavier.

Vorherr considered several schools, including Loyola (Chicago), Dayton and some smaller schools, according to Mercy volleyball coach Denise Harvey.

Vorherr had 332 digs and 258 kills this past season for the Division I state champion Bobcats.

“She is a great defensive player with excellent ball control,” Harvey said. “She did not set for us, but is a setter by trade. She played left side for us all the way around. I think her future is setting and defense for XU.”
